Final Destination
Lights roared a bright crimson as the growling thunder cackled looming darkness over the Deception Valley Council. Hooded figures masked from a distance discussed intensely the fate that was about to befall 18 innocent lives who dare tempt to alter its course as written.
Meanwhile, back in the United States dozens of Survivor hopefuls boarded a plane bound for the Kalahari Desert. There they would be subjected to grueling tasks that would lead to 18 finalists joining the future season of Survivor Deception Valley. If only they were aware what fate had in store for them. Among the crowd many hopefuls sized up their competition, planning strategies, putting on fake facades, and primping for the battle of their lives.
Unknowingly as they awaited their plane a surge of worry and déjà vu tingled one frail man’s body. A sense of urgency rushed through his blood and panic seized control. Yau Man Chan like so many others dreamed of the day he would stand upon his first flight to Deception Valley. The remote location and mystery alone drew many like him to apply. The overwhelming sense of danger drove Yau Man to dart from his seat pacing the isles causing a disturbance with the other finalists. The flight staff had no choice but to remove him and everyone involved. Leaving the plane was Yau Man, Jen, Anthony, Shawna, Courtney, Jonathan, Kelly, Alicia, Angie, Colton, Crystal, Sash, Michael, Brianna, Ace, Richard, Chelsea and Brenda. This was an awkward combination of hopefuls but one that was destined.
Moments later the flight set into the clear night sky and within a single breath the explosion that followed forever danced in the minds of the 18 hopefuls who just nearly escaped death. The emotional roller coaster set hysteria and concern throughout as the remaining group was quietly shuffled to a private air strip and aboard a plane to their destination. The situation was surreal that death had hand chosen the 18 players about to embark on an incredible journey. All reality would be lost once the plane doors shuttered closed.
What seemed like only moments in the air soon produced the clarity of the amazing islands below. As the plane landed a dark hooded figure seemed to be disappearing into the fog. When all had left the plane it too left with no intention of return. Cautiously they approached the package left behind by the mysterious figure. A note appeared and Anthony stepped forward to read it.
You may be in Kalahari but you have landed in Deception Valley. NOTHING is as it seems. You must follow this map and meet with the council but along the way not all will survive. Take fate into your own hands, or I shall take it back into mine. Death awaits you. Good Luck ~LM~
Looks of many emotions danced across the player’s faces as if baffled to the authenticity of what the note truly meant. Did someone really wish death upon those who thought they were about to embark on a game, or perhaps a game they wish they had not joined.
Michael grabbed the map from Anthony's hands and quickly began to lead the group along the path marked for them. They soon reached their first resting spot where they found a second note. All were hesitant to read this one. Before Courtney timidly reached for the parchment an uproar of heart wrenching screams bellowed behind the others. Sash in a crazy mental break could not handle another clue to the death he would soon face. He reached in his bag producing but a simple spoon and began to hack at the chocolate beauty that was Crystal. She begged for mercy as the others stood back watching confused. Sash was in a murderous rage to all that got near him, and soon Crystal's cries fell to silence. When he realized what he was capable of he hurled himself over a nearby cliff as if he was choosing to free himself from Death's grip by jumping into the very thing he feared. A hooded figure appeared and lifted the two bodies into the air, only to vanish seconds later.
Angie now reached for the note as Courtney retreated to huddle with the others. She quickly unfolded the parchment as she heavily panted for what she was about to read could bring no good to the island.
Each morning I will accelerate events to go my way, offer a sacrifice before the sun rises and u may play for perhaps another day. ~LM~
Driven by fear bonds seemed to form between the strong, the weak, and the socially awkward. A sacrifice meant testing each one of their moral abilities to commit murder to survive death. Quickly it was apparent where the alpha men and women stood. Many knew as the days grew longer the strength and arrogance of those remaining would pick off the weak leading to many whispers filling the valley.
As Anthony mulled over his own ability to take another life, his hand touched upon something behind the rock he sat. It seemed like a rope, but more lifelike. Embossed with a golden LA he quickly realized it was one of Crystals dreads. Death was telling him it was his turn to prove himself as he looked around the fire cautiously. Anthony struggled to hide his shaking hands, when Brianna appeared from the shadows.
"It’s okay! I know what has to be done,"She whispered taking the shard of hair from his hand. Like a cheetah on prowl she lunged at Michael who had his back turned, wrapping the lock of hair around his neck lurching him forward into the sand. Out of nowhere Courtney chaotically grabbed a nearby rock bludgeoning him to his death. Michael's eyes fluttered shut in shock as he did not see it coming.
Though threats were definitely something the scavenger survivors kept in the front of their minds, it was the weak that dragged down their progress in unmasking the hooded council that led to Colton's demise. Most had heard of the name but this Colton did not stick true to the fame. As lazy as a sloth running a race Colton found himself blacked out and in for a feast. Little did he know he was the feast. The council watched from afar pleased as the survivors began to distrust and turn on each other rather than seek out their true identity.
At some point during the fall of the night the group seemed to be separated after walking off their huge feast of Colton A La Cart. Ace, Alicia, Brianna, Chelsea, Courtney, Jen, and Richard found themselves lost from the rest of the pack. Meanwhile back at camp Anthony and Yau Man who had formed close bonds with Jen worried about her safety. They secretly deemed themselves the Trinity. Everyone at camp had a feeling that one would not return, and the paranoia of the island was eating at the survivors souls. When dawn broke an angry and violent Brianna staggered into camp, bruised, beaten, and bloody. The last words she uttered before falling into the fire felt as a distant whisper, "HELP ME!!" The others walked into camp an hour later with not an ounce of guilt for what was assumed they had committed. No one spoke of Brianna’s death again.
The next morning like a bad nightmare there were no bodies to be found just blank expressions glancing to one another around the fire. Though the mouthy and seemingly ignorant Angie was riding some peoples nerves the survivors had since realized that either they could accept deaths order, or create their own. Shawna, pegged as the quiet mouse of the group, seemed to be growing in strength and confidence. A small group once again found themselves huddled off to the corner while the others slept. It was suggested Angie could be an asset and Shawna took the opportunity to offer up Ace as a valid option. This would anger those he had grown close with, and it would take a mass group to accomplish. Death would strike in the morning if they did not in the night. The Council stood by ready to shed first blood but they would not get the chance just yet.
Shawna approached Ace with her sweet smile and batting her eyes as the others carried out her plan. After some time of distraction Ace simply grew bored and tired of Shawna's endless ranting. Before Shawna got up to leave she whispered in his ear, “I have a surprise for you." Curiously Ace turned to find himself smacked to the ground with a shovel. Shawna glanced at Jen and said, "Nice Weapon Choice, did u bring that from home?"
Jen in a confused state murmured, "It just appeared at camp, we don't know where it appeared from except it has the initials LA on it." Ace was strong and no time could be wasted. Anthony, Shawna and Kenny lifted Ace to the trees and using their first gift of Crystals dreads hung him to dangle in the night’s sky. An offer to the Council they fought to find in time to spare at least one life. It seemed the survivors slept easier after murder now when once they flocked in hysteria of what was to come.
Though the survivors were heading deep into the valley closer to their destination, Death and the Council were growing impatient. Night fall quickly fell upon the remaining players and no one slept with both eyes closed. Others began to notice Alicia had grown weak and often trailed off on her own. This worried those left who had protected her and utilized her strength to their advantage. The plot to send Kenny hurling off the cliff in her place began to brew between Shawna and Yau Man. Once again separated Brenda and Chelsea were brought to the side. Shawna plotted in their ears, "Death will not allow Alicia to continue life in this game, and she is too weak, so let’s take out another offering!!" The girls agreed and banded together as Alicia had disappeared into the forest again. Soon before dawn broke Alicia shrieked from afar, “NO BRIANNA NO!!!!" The remaining cast reared their heads but Yau Man seized the moment of opportunity and hurled Kenny down the rocky desert to his death.
Had it truly been Brianna back from the dead, or had Death spoken up and truly claimed its first real victim. The blood soaked hands of Alicia's killer would soon be revealed. Before anyone could plot which of the few left would take the fall the thunder roared in and lightning struck. Richard and Angie huddled by the fire soon found themselves damned to electrocution. If you looked at the sky just right each bolt seemed to mask a signature. Once again LA danced across the sky and the few left knew it had to mean something to do with the council. Finally the pompous duo of Angie and Richard had lifted a weight from the other’s shoulders.
It seemed at this point the sky was darker, the weather more temperamental, and the feeling of darkness immense. Bonds had formed within the group and at this point they seemed apparent. Many looked at Anthony, Yau Man, and Jen as one person, but who each had their ties to the others. Many attempts to take their lives had been prevented by the bonding they had created. Yau man seemed fond of Shawna and Courtney which set worry in the Trinity’s minds. There was no denying that Brenda and Chelsea would die for each other which were at least the others hope. Jonathan Penner often forgotten seemed to follow the tides of sand bursts as they came. Exhausted from days of torture the group huddled together just for a moments rest.
When morning sprung upon them the three groups seemed huddled close to one another waiting for some horrific event to strike. Shawna ventured just outside of camp to use the bathroom and beside the tree she found a spear branded with LA. She knew she had to use it. Yau Man stumbled upon her and Shawna had to make a choice. Would she spear Yau Man or keep the blood from her hands and let him do the dirty work. She quickly chose to remain "innocent" and pretended to hear a voice calling her, as she darted off deeper into the woods leaving the spear and responsibility behind for Yau Man. The seemingly sweet and small man maneuvered through the obstacles of the desert and found Chelsea and Brenda plotting with their very own LA spear. Ready to pounce and aiming for Brenda he hurled it towards her but it was Chelsea's cries that rang out. Hidden but watching Brenda cower over her closest friend on the island brought an odd sense of delight to Yau Man's pale face. He watched as Brenda hid the spear and they both rushed back to camp in different directions. Shawna soon appeared to hear the news of Chelsea's death trying desperately not to let her smirk of delight shine through. The island had definitely changed them all.
Jonathan began to blubber as the pressure to survive took its course. Hooded figures began to surround the very fire the remaining players took comfort in. No one spoke for a long time. The fire crackled and burned deep as a message revealed itself in the flames and the council disappeared.
One more must fall, before entry is granted
The fight between Death and Life will always be slanted.
The fight between Death and Life will always be slanted.
Brenda darted into the woods remembering the spear she had left behind but unknowingly to her Yau Man had already secured its fate. Before the Council had appeared Yau Man had whispered into Jen's ear and she had run into the forest long before the fire cackled. In a blink of an eye Penner found himself face down, eyes rolled back in his head gasping at the flames. There was no hope for him, just moments for the others to gather their belongings and take one more stride into the final council. Brenda was already waiting for the others when they arrived.
Yau Man, Jen, Anthony, Courtney and Shawna joined her seated in the middle of the man made pillared council. Twelve hooded figures surrounded them revealing the prediction writers who merely watched and observed the events that went down in Deception Valley. They would someday tell this story to future applicants as it would merely be laughed off as a horror story. Four figures stood on the podium three of which removed their hoods. Never had the remaining six seen such beauty and sparkle enveloped in so much evil. It was a heavenly combination. Suddenly the lightning and thunder demanded attention as the now unmasked figures bowed before their leader. Then in walked a red hooded figure and together they revealed themselves. Andy and Livid Amanda peered upon the remaining six. For a moment it seemed they pitied those still alive.
Livid Amanda spoke first, "The day you walked off that plane you messed with my plan. I am Death and I do not take kindly to those who PISS me off. I left you treasures and a choice throughout your journey but you disappoint me. Your ultimate purpose here will be served soon."
The others then realized that the many weapons left at camp were the very gifts Livid Amanda had left to help them dispose of each other. Livid Amanda continued as Andy adored her from the sidelines. "My counterpart Andy has been patient and kind with you, but I must step in as there is entertainment and there is punishment. No one will leave this island alive, Fate has written that, but how it happens has been left to you........... Until now."
Before Livid Amanda could continue Brenda stood in a rage, "YOU CRAZY BITCH!! KILL ME NOW!!IM DONE WITH YOUR GAMES!! AND THESE PATHETIC PEOPLE." The room went silent. Shawna looked as if her jaw was going to eat the floor while Brenda spoke. Eyes darted from all angles of the room to I ccatch a glimpse of livid Amanda’s expression. Simply she glanced at Andy and without order he rose and approached Brenda.
Hand firmly grasped around her neck he whispered in her ear as he took her last breath. "NEVER EVER talk to my Amanda like that again, not that you will have a choice."Brenda's limp body fell to the ground. Shawna and Courtney shrieked in horror as the Trinity remained silent and avoiding eye contact of the council. The girls flung themselves to their knees at Livid Amanda's feet begging for mercy.
Livid Amanda cleared her throat silencing the room to listen, "To grant you mercy would be to grant you death and so I shall." Parvati, DDanielle and Erik took the girls into the distance where only their faint screams echoed off the night sky. They returned promptly with blood soaked hands and stone faces.
The Trinity remained seated in silence as their fate was about to be dealt. Livid Amanda seemed to soften as she spoke to Yau Man, Jen, and Anthony. "Fate may be altered but its ending always seems set in stone. Many seasons ago my sweet Andy endured the same battle as you, and survived. Sacrifices were made in the name of Fate as it conquerors love as well. Even death is lonely and since then I have searched for the answer to be free and be married to the one I love!" Amanda paused and sent loving gazes towards Andy, and searching for understanding among the Trinity. "You all look at me wondering what part you play in my happiness. It is time for you to now know your sacrifice. Never in the many seasons that have past has a Trinity of bound souls conquered the temptation to lack loyalty and seek preservation like you three. The council has watched and waited for you. Your destiny if you choose is to remain bonded and join the council creating a full circle. This will allow for Andy to no longer wait in limbo and come rule Death by my side. The question that remains," Amanda once again paused to survey the remaining players expressions, "Are you willing to sacrifice all that you know outside this island, or will you join the fifteen others who have fallen brutally at the hands of weak souls? You three could end the suffering of Survivor Deception Valley if you choose so now! Sparing thousands of lives as I search for another holy trinity." Amanda gestured for the three to approach her.
With a simple glance from one another Anthony, Yau Man, and Jen hand in hand spoke one at a time. Yau Man dared speak first, "Once a Trinity always a Trinity,"
Jen continued to speak as if one person had the floor, "We will stand by your side sparing the lives of others, for now until fate deems them ready,"
She trailed off as Anthony squeezed the others hands tightly "We are ready for our Fate!!" Together the Trinity stepped forward. The lightning roared a bright crimson and the thunder cackled once more as a beam of a light struck upon the three. Hooded cloaks now covered them from head to toe as they revealed themselves one by one. The storm cleared as their skin glowed in the moonlight and the feeling of invincibility shot through their veins. Amanda, Andy, and the other council members watched silently as the Trinity transformed.
Twenty hooded figures gathered to celebrate the birth of a deathly duo that would reign over the world, still imposing death but not before its time. Fifteen souls sacrificed would lead to many extended lives with only one joyous event left to happen.
“We are gathered here today to unite Miss Livid Amanda, and Mr. Andy in evil matrimony,” DD proudly spoke standing before the council, “Through death and the completion of the council I proudly marry you here today. You may now exchange ceremonial elephant hats.” DD paused briefly.
The trinity looked confused by the exchange of the hats but remained silent as it must be a tradition of the council. DD gave no mind to the confusion blanketed on their faces and continued, “Andy, repeat after me. With this hat I honor and love my evil goddess Amanda from eternity and beyond!” Andy repeated proudly.
“Amanda, repeat after me. With this hat I honor and love my gorgeous Andy from eternity and beyond!” Amanda beamed her death rays proudly. DD continued, “You may now kiss your Bride, and with these hats brings you the power to grow your family to carry on the Death legacy. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Death!”
The pillared council sang with envy as the new married couple rode off into the sunset on Amanda’s elephant, Ellie. The Trinity whispered softly to Parvati and Erik, “Now what?” They all seemed timid to the response.
Parvati was first to have a grin painted on her glowing face, “Until they return the people will rejoice, and when they enter Deception Valley once more....all should beware”
The End
