ROUND TEN: STORYTELLER
Come on in, guys! Immunity is back up for grabs.
Come on in, guys! Immunity is back up for grabs.
And today, we're having one of our series' favorite challenges! You won't be stealing my jewelry today, but you will be writing stories for someone with a degree in English Writing
In today's challenge, you each will be writing a story. A story about something in regards to this game, that is.
You can either recap the entire game so far in some fashion or focus on a particular round; the only requirement is that it must be at least 600 words long - use the word count ticker below the "Post Reply" button. There is no maximum word count. Just... don't write like Tolstoy, please. There are no limitations to the format - if you want to tell an epic poem, by all means do. The only thing we're looking for is 600 plus words, and that it is a STORY, not a boring old recap. We want you to be CREATIVE. Look at the prior winners: Candice's Inactiveidous outbreak, Frosti's crazy high school drama, Russell's zombie infestation and paintball madness, Lex's Agatha Christie takeoff, Tracy's takeoff of an Agatha Christie takeoff, or Tyson cutting off a little bitch's arm - those took a recap and turned them into a story. If you merely recap what happened, you'll put us to sleep. This will cost a LOT of points. Basically... what qualifies is anything like what I have written at treemail. As long as it's 600 words or more. The longer, the better, unless it's too long.
The submissions will be judged by myself, DD, Parvati, Erik, and at least one of the PWs.
I know that most of you are not writers, but the categories for scoring are as follows:
-Originality [10 points]: Is the story a refreshing bath in an original reality, or is it a rabble of clichés or overdone constituents seen previously?
-Believability [10 points]: Is the story a sensible chain of events or a broken fog machine which covers endless oddities? Do the characters act in realistic believance or as headless chickens?
-Grammar and Effort [10 points]: Is the story a feasible submission to an English professor, or is it a first-grade scribble upon which would be looked down? Was a fair duration spent laboring, or was it a last-minute scrap?
-Entertainment [10 points]: Is the story a surge of endearing enjoyment or an endless bore of drying paint?
-Relation to the game [10 points]: Does the scripture make a visible connection to the game at hand, or does it delve into unrelated nonsense?
TOTAL: 250 points - 50 from each judge
We WILL be lenient with a few grammar mistakes. We may be English majors, but we know you aren't. Everything else... we're going to be a bit harsher with.
You are free to use the staff as characters, just remember that we're the ones judging and won't take kindly to being subjected to torture or death or anything like that. Or hat destruction. I love my hat.
Of course, you know I like to give out two immunities for this. However, there are only six of you, so giving two out really isn't the best idea here. Only one person will win immunity this round, BUT the person in second place will get an immunity idol shard. The person who wins immunity will be able to get a shard if they give up their necklace at Tribal, as is normal.
Any questions, let me know! I will be willing to give you assistance with grammar if you need it, just don't rely on me too much!
You have 72 hours - until 1:30 am Eastern Saturday, and if anyone demands any more time, they will be disqualified from the challenge. If you finish before then, please mark your story as FINAL so we can get to judging. The five of us will judge them as quickly as possible, and hopefully results will be up promptly. If you do not wish to submit a story, please inform me or post in your confessional. You'd better give a good reason for it.
Good luck everyone! Survivors ready? GO!
