Episode #2: A team

These titles for my confessionals were really boring, so spicing it up a bit.

Just getting my mind ready for the next challenge and the next round. Today I haven't talked to many people, just Angie. She was clever enough to ask about Deception Valley, and I gave her some details. She even asked me if I won some small price, and I told her I did (not which price). Asked her to keep it for herself. I don't know if this is really the smartest thing to do, but I don't want to look shady and look like I'm hiding someone, especially if it's a person I'd like to work with (Angie is certainly one).

I think I've talk to enough many people during the last round, and I hope people like me enough to not immediately see me as a threat and vote me out the first chance they get. That would be really disappointing, but if that's what people do then that's what people do. There's no point in worrying about that yet.

Without taking possible tribes into account, there's some people I'd really love to work with. They are Angie, Kenny, and Jenn. That's simply based on the vibe they've been giving me. Jenn, I already made a good deal with and I got to know some small personal things about her. That's something I find important in an ally. Same with Angie, she was quite talkative. Today I asked her if she was in a different time zone (I already knew but that shouldn't matter). She was hesitant telling me obviously as she wanted to know mine before telling. I told her I live in Europe (can't really say Netherlands because if Michael finds out he'll know who I am). Whenever people ask details, I'll probably say I'm Irish I'm glad we got this out of the way though as being in different time zones is clearly something we have in common. I'm usually not keen on telling people, but Angie won't use it against me. Finally Kenny, there's just something about the way he talks on AIM and on the boards that I like. Can't really describe it, but my first impression was good. I also have a feeling that Kenny doesn't have a whole lot of ties already.

Then there's like a second layer of people that I may work with. I'd love to work with these as well, but they're just not on top of my list. They are Penner, Michael, Ace, and Yau-Man. Penner's online times just worry me, but he's a great guy to talk to and I feel like we have a bond already. Michael has a lot of connections and staying close to him may really do some good to my game. Him and I shifted the vote to Crystal, so we already did some good bonding I think. Ace is a nice guy; I just have a feeling that he's hiding things whenever I talk to him and I don't often have these feelings with people. Yau-Man is my buddy from day 1, but since that day we haven't had a decent conversation. That really worries me, but he's been sick and probably busy, so that might explain.

It wouldn't surprise me if I end up working with others, but these are just my thoughts based on the impressions I got. Maybe I won't really 'work' with anyone, I mean, so far I'm not in what's been referred to as an alliance. Since there are no tribes, people may hold back in asking for alliances. Now I gotta get ready for the second challenge. I won't be here when it starts, hopefully that won't hurt me.

So I figure one of two things:

Either they share a lot of info together, or Michael just has loose lips.
I don't know. She said he told her I was voting Sash and Crystal.
But I hadn't been on all day to discuss the vote.

so I was like alright I don't wanna vote for ya, and at the same time I was talking to Michael who said he didn't want to vote for Angie and he suggested Crystal instead
so I was like, would you have the votes? And he seemed quite confident about that and came up with people he knew would probably vote Crystal

Yeah, I find it weird that he would try so hard to shift it and on top of it tell people lies of who is actually voting her just to gain numbers in the vote.

Eventually just stopped so I just didn't bother with them.

1. I told him everything about Deception Valley. I'll just have to believe him on his word.

2. He noticed something fishy about Mike. Alright, we talk about it, I give him my version of what went down.

3. I'm feeling like it was Mike and myself getting a whole list of people to vote for Crystal. Penner finds it shady that Mike is trying to get a whole list of people to vote for Crystal. What do I do? Say it was the two of us doing that? This puts me in such a terrible position. I've been honest to Penner and told him that I was down with shifting it to Crystal and that I've told people my opinion on the vote. However, I didn't tell him that it was me and Mike continuously updating the list.

4. Penner thinks things don't add up. For some parts that may be true, for others, I'm thinking, maybe my role is the missing link?

5. I honestly believe Mike has a LOT of ties already, so that's something that Penner and I agree on. I even told Penner that Mike is a host. I don't know if that's smart, I mean, it's throwing Mike under the bus. However, I gotta be open with my buddy. As open as I can.

6. Penner wants to take Mike out early if possible. That's kind of like really tricky, especially with the ties that Mike may have. Plus I'm kinda close to both of em so that's just gonna be difficult.

I have no choice but to trust Penner as he knows my little secret about Deception Valley, and what he says about Mike could be right, but damn. I'm in between these two and I don't like it. I'm panicking right now. I don't know how to deal with this so early in the game Ok after reading the conversation again i feel better, but I still feel kind of guilty of my role in the Crystal vote and what I told Penner about it.

Right, so this challenge is again individual, and it's endurance. I can certainly last a while, but do I want that huge target on my back if I don't win? I said I'd not hold back, but I also don't want this to ruin my day. I'll probably just do the things that I was already going to do and then see how much time is left for this. May also ask for an extension if there's not too much time left but honestly this extension is only going to make me more nervous for what's to come.

I'm thinking it will make me more of a threat, but it's not an idol so hopefully people won't target me for it if I get one. An HII in itself is not very relevant to me, it would only make the game more stressful, but I don't mind the bonus and it won't hold me back in the challenge.

LOVE the extension. OMG I'm so happy with it. Now all I gotta do is to not screw up (besides going to the groceries store before starting the challenge #_#). Oh, and hope that if I don't screw up I'll actually win immunity. I know it's seen as a bad strategy to come off as a threat this early, but it's the way I like to play and doing the challenge tomorrow is just very convenient for me.

I talked to Chelsea a lot today. Just small talk. She was doing the challenge. It's nice to get to know her a little better, it was a fun conversation and I hope I kept her entertained while she was doing the challenge. I also talked to Alicia for the first time. I know who she is and I know that she can be a very dedicated player. Our conversation was just kinda boring though. We didn't really get it going, she didn't show any initiative, and she was slow. I hope next time we'll have a better conversation.

I did the challenge today, and it didn't go bad at all. I hope I didn't make a mistake, because then I will win immunity. Ace will win the other immunity then. I just talked to him and we figured we already have this in the bag as there's no time to catch up. I genuinely hope more people will attempt to win the HII shard though as that will take away some of the target that's gonna be on my back. I'm not really sure how I'm gonna talk myself out of this, I mean, if at some point people say they'll vote me out because I'm too threatening then what am I going to do? There's a difference between being good at challenges and coming off as a mega threat (I don't want to sound cocky here and in fact I'm not really that much of a challenge beast, but based on the first two challenges people may think so).

I feel bad for YauSmurf as he did like 6 hours and I wish he could have won the immunity. I took it from him, which is kind of bad, but I'm not gonna hold back, for no one. We talked during the challenge and I told him about Deception Valley. I think I can trust him, so it's alright. I talked to Jen for a bit as well. She was a little quiet, but she's like that in general I think.

When I was almost finished with the challenge I talked to Penner and Ace. There was a lot of small talk, it was a real pleasure. I also guaranteed Penner that if I ever hear his name, he will know immediately. He guaranteed me the same. That's some good bonding. Then with Ace I had a long conversation about The Voice. It was fun. We'll hopefully go to Deception Valley together, and it really cannot hurt to do some bonding with the guy. I think he's good to work with. Penner and Ace also talked, for the first time actually. Penner loved the conversation.

So right now it's Penner-YauSmurf-Ace-Myself that are all pretty close I think. At least we get along really well. There's no alliance or anything, but I see possibilities. YauMan and myself are pretty close to Jen as well, but Penner doesn't really seem to like her. I personally would like to get closer to Kenny, but I don't think he has made himself well liked. I feel like he is someone who's on the outs and I am still very much interested in doing something for him. He may be gone this round though.

People are starting to wonder about my weird online times. Told both Jen and YauMan I'm 5 hours ahead now. In fact I'm 6 ahead, but it should fit with my Ireland story. Jen knows I'm 'Irish' now It's just for staying alias and it's close to the truth, at least.

In the mean time I missed a lot of drama it seems. Jen gave me a heads up on it, which is really really appreciated. People were thinking of booting Alicia (great idea IMO). Then Mike again disagreed and suggested Shawna. That's when people started getting worried that Mike may have a pre-game alliance with Angie and Alicia. Hence, the vote shifted to Mike. There was a group discussion with like half of the cast. I'm really bummed that I missed it as that's some socializing that really helps your game, but it is what it is. At least I'm not one of those calling the shots this round.

It was really Mike AND me doing the dirty work last round. Not that I'm involved in this pre-game business at all, but it was both of us doing the work I believe. Therefore I gotta be really careful with this as I don't want my name to be flying around as part of this power play that happened last round. People don't like how Mike swayed the vote, so automatically they would want to target me as well if they know how it was done.

I'm fine with booting Mike, I'd rather vote Alicia out but it is what it is and this is what people are going to do. I hope I didn't ruin my friendship with Odve outside the game because truth is, I did lie to him about (not) applying for this game. It will be weird telling him it was me, his co-host, out of all people

For now I'll just sit back and talk to as many people as I can. I'm still hoping for a division in tribes, and hopefully I'll have enough many ties to people as soon as I go to the next tribal council. I'd feel horrible being booted because I'm seen as a threat, but I'd only have myself to blame for sticking to my principles and I guess I'll be able to live with it.

I have sort of mixed feelings. Yes I would love to align with her. On the other hand, it may pose a problem with Penner because I know that the two of them haven't talked. In addition, Angie is directly linked to Michael, which could be a problem too. We'll see how it goes though. We have this alliance between the two of us and I'll do my best to look out for her when I can. I can't play her social game though. That she'll have to do herself. I hope she won't try to make a bigger alliance out of this because then things may get more complicated.

If you read the conversation you will also see that I informed her about the votes possibly being on Mike. I can tell that people didn't want Angie to know about it. Angie said Jen's not voting Mike, but I know for a fact that she will. She lied to Angie. At least Jen is honest to me. I didn't tell Angie any of this. This is where I lean back and just act like I don't know shit about things. I'm not gonna lie and be like, all I heard for the vote was Shawna. That's not me. I'm just honest about what I heard, and whether Mike gets to hear all of this or not, I'm not gonna lie because people want me to lie about it. If I get to talk to Mike I'll tell him the same. Won't tell him he's going, will tell him I heard his name. I don't lie about this. The worst I'd do is avoid having to tell, like I did with Crystal, but with Mike this is gonna be a whole different situation because he will ask until he got it out of me.

Obviously Angie has a problem with voting Mike, but I can't do anything about it. It's not my business and it's not up to me to change things. I hope people won't be mad at me for telling Angie that Mike's name is going around, but they should just respect the fact that I'm not lying to people I like. It's not like I told her the source of all of this or any details. Just the name is all.

I'm messing up huh? I definitely consider Angie an ally. There's only so much I can do though. If something voncrete is formed, I'm gonna try and make her part of it. It's just messy and complicated when there are no tribes though. She's not expendable to me but I'll have to look out for myself as well. Information is going to be key.

With Michael gone I'll lose someone who's certainly not after me. I'll lose someone who has a bigger target on his back than myself. I'll lose a potential ally. I gain nothing, but Mike was done by the time I got on and people already have their opinions. The fact that he's barely on doesn't help either.
