Alright folks, the game is on! No more pre-game confessing, it's game time. We were welcomed by the hosts. It was a surprising welcome, it immediately reminded me of my time in Fiji. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I mean, we arrived at some place called the Tau Pan but we weren't split in tribes. That is really weird. What is going to happen? Are we going to live in the same place like in One World? Are we going to be split into tribes? If it's men vs. women, that would actually be great. So far I've connected with some of the men, but not with many of the women. Honestly I usually have a harder time keeping conversations with the girls going until somewhat later in the game when we get to know each other better. Unless they're kinda crazy (I've met enough crazyness in the past and just love that) Anyway, what will happen? I just hope it's not "free for all", because that would make me really nervous. That's just stressful. Maybe the first immunity challenge will play a role in how the tribes are divided. I really can't wait to see what's going to happen, this is all really exciting. In the mean time I talked to one more person, Ace. He started the conversation with me. It was fun chatting with him. We just said hi, talked a bit about the current season, our own seasons, and then he said he should watch his own season again. So he asked me how I watched the episodes again, and the nerd that I am of course had a link for him in 2 seconds. He found his season and then went off line because he was going to watch Survivor. The lazy bum! No, kidding, let him watch while I can hopefully talk to some more people. These conversations don't have to go on for too long because at some point there's just nothing to talk about anymore when the game barely started. That's why I hope there's gonna be a clear division in tribes so that there will be some serious stuff to talk about. I haven't had the guts to start a conversation with Kenny when I saw him on, so that'll have to wait a bit. Anyway, the game is on, and I'm about ready!

Definitely a great confessional so far! Very detailed and thorough. Best of luck! I do have one question... What is this link?

I'll keep this centered.
So right now I'm talking to Penner again. He said he's finishing a paper. I was doing the exact same, but didn't say so. He reminds me of someone. Time will tell if it's really him. At least we did some more bonding, talked about the treemail, our hats, like
I'm just trying to take it all easy and not force anything. I'm not really the person who explicitly asks someone to work with me. I'll just talk, make them like me, and if they want let them propose something. I have my cards, and I'll play them in the way that's most efficient

I love my hat <3 And even I knew the link for YouTube... but DD, don't you have 42 more hours of Tales of the Abyss left? Who does Penner remind you of, if you don't mind me asking? Is he a person you can trust?

Nah nevermind, I checked their birthdays and they're different It was just a hunch, but it was wrong xD As far as trust goes, based on the conversations with him, I'd feel comfortable putting my trust in him. He seems quite easy going and easy to talk to. I love your hat too Amanda. All hats are pretty good; I love mine too.

Challenge time! Alright, so I'm looking at the boards seeing that I was at the bottom of the online list. I don't like that, it gives the impression that I could become a liability. I'll just have to work extra hard in the challenge to show I'm not. I don't expect many live challenges anyway so I'm not gonna be a liability.
This first challenge looks amazing. I really love it. Now I gotta come up with a strategy and do my math. If I read the rules correctly, it cannot really hurt to give too many bridges away. Hence, I'll probably give them to everyone I've talked to. Not sure if that's gonna include the two I've PMed. The downside of handing out too many planks is that people may feel screwed over by me if they didn't expect one. On the other hand, since I'll only give to half of the cast, they might feel honored too. So this is my initial strategy, no algorithms needed, its gonna be simple binary stuff.
Then, who will give me their planks? I expect Yau Man's and Penner's for sure. Ace, maybe. Shawna maybe. Jenn, really not sure. Michael and Chelsea probably not. I'm thinking, if they give me a plank and I don't 'accept' it, they may feel hurt. They may feel that I didn't trust them enough. That's a problem. In addition, there's some math to be done. How many posts can I make in a minute? How many posts do I need to do? Can I save a minute by leaving two bridges out? If yes, then it's worth the risk of leaving someone out, perhaps. Puzzle's gonna take time too, but first I need a strategy.
Do I want to win? Sure, why not. It's probably gonna be team captains, I wouldn't mind some attention. I don't think I've made enough many connections to be able to win though. Hence, I gotta do two things: - Make sure I do really well so I don't come off as weak. - Make sure I give planks to the right people and correctly guess how much they are willing to give me their plank.
Gonna think about this for a bit.

Looks like Sashew is inactive. That's really too bad as I'm a fan of him, but it may help me in a way. As long as there's an inactive, it hopefully won't be me who's going home. I'm not feeling too confident right now, because I think others have talked more. I'm just not on during evenings and that's always a problem when it comes to people getting to know each other, but I've learned to adapt and to deal with it. It will hopefully be alright.
So for this challenge I guess I'm gonna give planks to (will post in separate thread as soon as this is final) Yau-Man Penner Shawna Ace Jenn Chelsea Michael ETA: Brianna
I'm gonna assume the following four are giving me their plank Yau-Man Penner Shawna Ace ETA: Brianna
I think that will be an okay strategy. Gonna check how fast I can actually post to see if it would help to omit or add a person. Since the puzzle is gonna be rather crucial, I don't think it will matter too much if I'd do two extra posts, so I'm just gonna do what seems most plausible to me, which is assuming the four listed above are giving me their planks.

Right, so Brianna starts talking to me.
Becky Robertson 12:50 pm im trying to see whos giving me planks and whos not
Anthony Robinson 12:51 pm lol yeah that's kinda tricky; are we allowed to say actually?
Becky Robertson 12:51 pm i think we are allowed to ask other people for there plank we just dont know if they are lying to us until results haha
Anthony Robinson 12:51 pm ah alright; well I'd rather not lie at all lol
Becky Robertson 12:52 pm yeah, its 2 early to lie lol
Anthony Robinson 12:52 pm yeah lol
I'm actually really not sure if this is okay, but I guess this was some sort of way to seal the deal. It's all based on trust, but I'll at least give her a plank since I've talked to her now and probably assume I'll get one in return.

Okay, changing strategy. I thought we had to base everything on our conversations BEFORE this challenge. Appears not to be the case. That rigorously changes things. Complicates things too. I mean, even if I don't get to talk to people, some may assume I'm giving them a plank simply based on the relationship we've built so far. Gotta think a lot more now, and do more socializing. I was planning to do this challenge at work because here my computer is like way faster and less ridiculous than the one I have at home, BUT time wise it's better to strategize a bit more before doing stupid things.
To be continued.

Okay going to keep track of who's certainly gonna give me one and who may assume I'm doing so.
Made a deal with: - Brianna - Jen - Courtney - Ace [he gives me one, I should not give him one] - Penner
Will hopefully assume: - Yau-Man
Might assume:
- Ace - Shawna
I'm trying to talk to Jen but she's not responding so... (maybe she felt like our last conversation was so boring that now she doesn't care )

That's always part of the point of a first challenge. That's why we went with this, and I love how DD put this one together. And yes, you're free to negotiate as the challenge moves on. That's how ORGs work as opposed to the actual Survivor. I love how frequently you're updating this, too! Any ideas on who else you might be giving planks to?

It's gonna depend on who's on and who's not. I plan on doing the challenge at 6. If by then I haven't talked to the 4 who may assume I'm giving them one, I'll just drop them a PM saying I gave them one and ask them to return it. I hope that will work for them.
I love the philosophy behind having such a challenge as a first challenge! Never experienced it before in a game, liking it!

Yay <3 I have found over my nine prior games (there was one before Tonga) that a first challenge that gets people talking helps a game be more active and more fun. Typically, it's a tribal first challenge, and I have enjoyed coming up with ways to make the tribes work as a team. Discussing a challenge gets people talking, so I'd always do some sort of tribal posting challenge. Tribal endurance, same-time posting, 2-on-2 attack/defend, etc. Things that get you talking to each other. I remember that the most dominant tribe we've ever had - Erciyes in Turkey - started being so strong by having a group chat to coordinate posts. They did lose that challenge, voted out the bitch, and then won every challenge thereafter, only going to TC one more time during the double round. It's way better than having a first challenge where the tribes don't work as a unit. I also hate having a live first challenge. I like giving more time for people to get to know each other. This formula has been highly successful - seven of my eight seasons have been great with few inactives. Here's hoping this is the eighth
